About
Studio Bubec was founded in 2000 by sculptor Čestmír Suška, director Jan Hřebejk, musician Karel Holas, dramatic adviser Martin Velíšek and architect Ivo Bílý with the aim of reviving the cultural and community life of the Prague – Řeporyje borough and influencing the shape of the local public spaces.
Its main activities surround the operation of the Bubec art studio and gallery, located in a former warehouse hall in the borough. The Studio organises exhibitions, festivals, art shows, concerts and provides regular residencies for artists from all over the world. Gradually, the Creative Bubec centre, the Bubec Community Garden and Art Park and the Bubec Puppet Theatre have been added to the Studio’s activities. In addition to activities related to art, we are also involved in the revitalization of unused areas in Řeporyje.
Outside the studio, we regularly organise the popular M3 / Art in Space Festival which is dedicated to placing art in public space through which it provokes discussion, highlights urban themes and the need to improve public space.
